Cleveland Clinic finds that Americans’ lack of knowledge about obesity is putting their heart health at risk

February is American Hearth Health Month and according to the Cleveland Clinic’s 2019 Heart Health Survey, even though a vast majority of Americans (88%) understand the connection between a healthy heart and maintaining a healthy weight, and 65 percent are worried about getting heart disease due to extra pounds, yet less than half (43 percent) of Americans have tried to make dietary changes to lose weight and 40 percent of those who describe themselves as overweight or obese say they aren’t careful about which foods they eat.
